 Complete Timber
Resin assemblies have been weathered for over 15 years
        We manufactured a softwood
slotted timber in the year 2000 and installed high tensile (unprotected)
steel rebar inside Structural Epoxy Pouring Resin as a durability test.
The timber was only surface treated using two coats of our Boron Ultra
12 powder in water at 10% solution. The timber component was
then left outside in full weather near the coast in South Devon to test
the durability of the Epoxy Resin, the protective effect of the resin
on the steel and the bond between the resin, steel and wood in widely
          varying conditions.
Beam upgrade left out in
all weathers, Coastal Environment. Arrows point to the steel
bars where the upgraded beam has been cut in half.
Close up of the cut end.
No rust or rust stains. No wood decay, splitting
          or separation.
 Conclusions
        1. Structural Epoxy Pouring
Resin is unaffected by weathering, even in Coastal Environments - C4
Environments - for at least 15 years 2. Structural Epoxy Pouring
Resin fully protects steel rebar from corrosion in a C4 Environment
for at least 15 years 3. Structural Epoxy Pouring
Resin remains fully bonded to timber for at least 15 years of wetting
and drying 4. Softwood timber is well
protected by Boron Ultra 12 at 10%, despite being in partial ground
contact in a C4 Environment. We are therefore confident
that the combination of Structural Epoxy Resins, Bright Zinc Plated
High Tensile Steel and Boron Ultra 12 treatment can more than cope with
          more normal indoor environments.
